How to Create an ASP-Based Hit Counter in ASP Express
  1. I'ts probably best to set up a 'Counters' Subdirectory in your web root first, if not already done
  2. Open an ASP document on which you want a counter
  3. Place your cursor where you want the number to appear
  4. In the ASP pull-down menu, click 'Create ASP Hit Counter'
  5. Choose to make it Session sensitive, Visible or not
  6. Click the 'Create File' button
  7. Since you are creating this on your own PC, you need to let it know where the web root is
  8. Follow the instructions in the dialog box to do this
  9. Click the 'Apply' button
  10. Voila - the mechanism is created
  11. Naturally, you need to create the same directory structure on your web site and copy your new counter file into the Counter directory
